Hello! I am trying to connect an apple airport express to my router and I can't get it to connect. I am adding the airport express so that I can add additional airport expresses. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Jan 25, 2008 · Maybe I could buy the AirPort Extreme (or any other high-speed router for that matter) and use it as my router, and also buy the AirPort Express and solely use that as an AirPlay receiver. Because as far as I know, Apple doesn't make anything cheaper than the Airport Express that can function as an AirPlay receiver, right? The AirPort Time Capsule is a wireless router but it also has a hard disk built-in. So I’ve been able to wirelessly use Time Machine to back up my iMac automatically and with incredible ease. AirPort Express is a lightweight router designed for music sharing. AirPort Extreme is a more powerful router with additional ports and features.
