The problem here is that SHA256Managed reads 4096 bytes at a time (inherit from FileStream and override Read(byte[], int, int) to see how much it reads from the filestream), which is too small a buffer for disk IO.. MD5sum.exe is compatible with windows7 however you can download MD5sum.exe in XP mode and install the program in windows7 with XP mode of compatibility. Right click on the icon for the program; Click on properties; Now click on compatibility TAB; Under compatibility section, put a check mark on “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” Pop the batch file and md5sum.exe in a folder on your SSIS server and then you can call the batch file, passing it the name of your data file and it will create the .ctl file for it.
